Concerned about pesticides in the produce you buy at the grocery store?

EWG, Environmental Working Group, has just unveiled its 2024 Produce Buying Guide, a comprehensive analysis of the Food and Drug Administration’s data on pesticides found on fruits and vegetables.

Based on 47,510 samples of 46 fruits and vegetables, this guide is a valuable resource for consumers like you, providing valuable insights into the produce you consume.  EWG breaks the list into the dirtiest and cleanest produce that you can buy.

For the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables, 95% of the samples were covered in pesticides.

The 5 worst on the list were:

  • Strawberries
  • Spinach
  • Kale, Collard Greens, Mustard Greens
  • Grapes
  • Peaches

Fruits and vegetables are supposed to be the healthiest foods we can buy from the grocery store, but unfortunately, many are covered in harmful pesticides. In addition to the risks of pesticides, fruits and vegetables at the grocery store do not provide their full health benefits because they have less nutritional value further from their harvest.
