Starter Plants with Hydroponic Garden

How to Grow Starter Plants with Hydroponics: Aquatree Garden

The Spring is a perfect time to get a head start on those outdoor gardens by growing starter plants with hydroponics, giving your crops a strong foundation while not worrying about frost.

In addition to fully growing microgreens, lettuces, and herbs in their Aquatree Gardens, our hydroponic garden owners also do starter plants for Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Peppers, and more.

One of our Aquatree Garden Grow Club Facebook Group members has been sharing weekly photos of the progress of various plants that can be later transplanted into their outdoor garden.

We’ll share some of his posts and a step-by-step guide to growing starter plants with hydroponics in your Aquatree Garden.

How to grow starter plants hydroponically in Aquatree Garden

Step 1: Plant one or two plants per Aquatree Garden Tray. Plant 1 – 2 seeds into the Biodegradable Grow Foam just as shown in this Aquatree Hydroponic lettuce planting video.

Step 2: Cover the unused holes with Cone Hole Covers or foil. Covering the unused holes will help prevent light from directly hitting the water with nutrients.

Step 3: Pour Aquatree Nutrients (2 tbsp every 7 days) into the Aquatree Tank.

Step 4: put one dam into each garden tray to keep the water level in the tray higher.

Step 5: Start turning on the grows lights after the seed germinates (seeds break open with a stem).

Step 6: With the Grow Lights adjusted 2 inches from the trays, turn on the grow lights for 8 – 10 hours per day.

Step 7: Top off the water in the tank once or twice a week.

Step 8: Adjust the grow lights upward as the plants grow taller.

Step 9: To start the transplant process, dig the Hole in your garden first.

Step 10: Pull out the Plant with Garden Cone and biodegradable Grow Foam. Take it all out to the Hole and remove the biodegradable Grow Foam with the Plant and roots. You will put the Plant with the biodegradable grow foam and the Plant still in it into the Hole.

Step 11: Add water to the Hole. Use a Gallon of Water with two tablespoons of nutrients. And then cover the Hole with soil.

Important note: There will be a period of transfer shock, where the Plant will look like it’s wilting after going from hydroponics to soil, but if you take care of it daily by giving it the nutrient water mix, it will start thriving again.
